I’ve lived in a couple of other states in my lifetime, but there’s nothing quite like home. If you’ve never experienced living away from Georgia, I have to tell you, it really sucks! Here are 10 things people miss the most about Georgia when they leave:

  1. Southern Food

Nathan Cardozo via Flickr It’s really hard to find great southern food when you’re not in the south anymore. Also, people won’t always know that you want a “sweet” tea when you ask for tea.

  1. Family Get-Togethers

  1. Southern Hospitality

Eli Christman via Flickr Everyone here meets you with a smile and a greeting. Go anywhere else and people will look at you like you’re crazy if you say anything to them without knowing them!

  1. All the greenery

  1. The beautiful mountains

Mikel Manitius via Flickr Speaking of greenery, you’ll surely miss our beautiful North Georgia Mountains. There are just no other mountains that can match the majesty of the ones found in Georgia.

  1. The Georgia coast

  1. The great weather

Evangelio Gonzalez via Flickr The temperate weather will definitely be missed. Yes it gets hot in the summer, but it’s pretty great in the winter, spring and fall. I’ll definitely say that great weather 75% of the year can’t be beat by most states.

  1. All the amazing history

We have the nation’s most complete set of Civil War artifacts and numerous national historical sites. The great history here definitely cannot be found anywhere else.

  1. Collegiate Football

Thomson20192 via Flickr For sure, you’ll definitely miss going to a Georgia game or a Georgia Tech game. The camaraderie that comes from attending a Georgia game in Georgia cannot be felt anywhere else!

  1. The small town feel

Chris via Flickr Last but certainly not least, you’ll miss the small town feel of Georgia. No matter where you go, even in Atlanta, Georgia just has a slower pace than the rest of the country. You can take your time, smile at your neighbor and take in the beauty of the state of Georgia.
