As I sit at my computer, signed onto the Internet, I think to myself how times have changed since this technology was first introduced. Even though the Internet has added much convenience to our lives, there’s something special about the simpler times we used to experience.

Here are 10 examples of the way life used to be before we were introduced to the Internet:

  1. We played actual board games with our family.

  1. Years ago, people actually visited malls to do all of their shopping.

  1. Back in the day, we depended on encyclopedias to do all of our research.

  1. Kids loved playing outside.

  1. There was a time when we looked forward to renting a new release from our local video store, even though it was ALWAYS rented out.

wikipedia Today, we have the luxury of renting the newest releases from the Internet and are able to watch them instantly. This is great, but not everyone has this luxury. This is why video stores are greatly missed.

  1. We read actual books.

  1. Our mail correspondence required a pen, paper and stamp.

  1. More friendships were maintained in person.

  1. We waited until the following day to receive news updates through a newspaper.

  1. Photos were mostly shared through scrapbooks and photo albums.
