If you’re a fan of barbecue (and who isn’t?) then Mississippi is the place for you. In addition to an entire trail devoted to the smoky goodness, the state has numerous restaurants known for serving incredible barbecue. One such eatery can be found in Picayune, and it’s called Stonewall’s. The small town barbecue joint has quickly garnered a reputation for its award-winning barbecue, mouthwatering sides, and amazing service. Take a look:
The owners of Stonewall’s, Tony and Angie Smith, have been serving “their finger licking barbecue” for nearly two decades now.
Jeff Baldock/Creative Visions The first Stonewall’s was opened in Poplarville in 1995. Shortly after, the restaurant was moved to its current location in Picayune.
Practically food royalty, the Smith family has over 70 years of combined experience serving delicious food.

The baby back ribs are by far one of the most popular items and definitely explain the tagline, “the place for ribs.”

In addition to ribs, the menu includes a variety of barbecue standards, such as tender smoked chicken, zesty sausage links, and juicy brisket.

Just as impressive as the barbecue are the sides, which makes sense since the motto at Stonewall’s is the “sides are just as important as the Q.”

Aside from the fare, it’s the laid back atmosphere that keeps customers (and lots of them) coming back.
Stonewall’s BBQ & Catering Picayune/Facebook Orders are placed at a walk-up window. Don’t be surprised if you see a line. But it’s okay; it’ll just give you more time to look over the menu.
All food is conveniently served in a to-go container, which is a good thing because with such hearty portions, leftovers are almost guaranteed.
