Winter is coming in New Jersey, and that means a mix of things. Sure, some of us are dreading the cold, but we have a lot to look forward to. Despite some serious snowstorms, our state can be a winter wonderland. We have holiday lights to look forward to…and holiday shopping. Certain thoughts are running through most of our minds, here are a handful.
- I can’t wait for it to snow.
Flickr/Nicholas A. Tonelli Our state looks even more beautiful covered in a blanket of snow. Not to mention the added benefit of snow days.
- But I hope it doesn’t snow too much.
Flickr/Tom Simpson In some towns, if you live on a dead end…see you in the spring!
- I think I’ll invest in a snow blower this year.
Flickr/John M. Cropper Or maybe I’ll just stick with the shovel. I need to save up for holiday gifts and property taxes.
- Where am I going to park?
Flickr/Jazz Guy In some cities, driveways are an uncommon amenity - a prized possession. If you live in one of those places, you know that “No Parking When Roads Are Snow Covered” means hours finding a spot. They WILL plow you in.
- I can’t wait to see all the lights.
Flickr/Loci Lenar We love our holiday decorations here. You never need to drive far from home to see a spectacular display.
- The malls are going to get EVEN crazier.
Flickr/Anne Helmond Shopping season is upon us and parking lots will be packed.
- At least that means more quality family time with Santa.
Flickr/William Prost Mall Santas, a New Jersey staple! We also have some pretty great holiday train rides.
- I guess I should get around to finishing last year’s fruitcake.
Flickr/Jazz Guy It’s still in the freezer. A popular holiday gift in the Garden State.
- It’s sweater season.
Flickr/TheUglySweaterShop.com Time to get those knitting needles out. I’m a big fan of comfy clothes and cheesy sweaters.
- Time to hit the slopes.
Flickr/Anthony Quintano Sure, North Jersey is no Aspen, but we still offer some quality skiing. Mountain Creek and Campgaw are some of the more popular options.
- And break out the sled.
Flickr/Francisco Daum There is so much to enjoy during the winter in New Jersey. Sledding, tubing, and snowshoeing are just a few examples.
- Snowmen!
Flickr/Melinda Shelton And women. Doesn’t this little guy just MELT your heart?
- Thank goodness I have that automatic starter.
Flickr/Tom Simpson OR, alternatively, I wish I had that automatic starter. It really helps during those freezing cold Jersey winters.
- Where will I get my Christmas tree this year?
Flickr/U.S. Department of Agriculture That was a trick question. You probably already have a great local farm picked out.
- I miss the boardwalk.
Flickr/Kim Carpenter There are just 198 days until Memorial Day Weekend. Then it’s back to Asbury Park, Seaside, Atlantic City, Ocean City, Wildwood, and Cape May!
What thoughts do you have when winter is on its way in New Jersey? What do you most look forward to? Least look forward to? Let me know!
