Career experts at Zippia took some of those factors and compared them among cities in North Dakota to determine which cities were considered the happiest places to live in the state. - Minot

The average commute time is only 14 minutes, leaving people less frustrated when getting to and from their job, which they likely have as the unemployment rate is only 2.7% in Minot.
- Devils Lake

The commute time might be a little higher compared to other places, rating at on average over 13 minutes, but when you think about huge cities in other states where the time it takes to get 10 miles down the road can be over an hour, it seems like smooth sailing and very lacking of the frustration associated with being stuck in traffic. To go with that statistic, Williston also has a lot of amenities and almost 53% of the population are married.

Andrew Filer/Flickr Coming in at fifth on the list is Mandan. They have the highest amount of residents owning their home - at almost 70% - out of all the other cities on this list. With 18,365 residents, you get the bigger city feel without much congestion, but all the amenities you need.
- Bismarck

While the cost of living is higher in Bismarck, the higher median household income and low unemployment rate contribute to a less stressful life for many of the residents.
