Since we left our colonies behind and transformed into the United States, the art of tea has lost its foothold in society. Tea drinkers everywhere are enjoying varieties of tea from all over the world, but where can you go to sit down and enjoy it in a place where tea is queen? Though it may not be as American as it is British, Mad Hatters and Victorian ladies alike will enjoy these tea rooms across Kansas.
- Chelmsford Tea and Gifts - 217 S Main Whitewater, KS
GoogleMaps/Chelmsford Tea and Gifts
Chelmsford Tea and Gifts Facebook Chelmsford Tea in Whitewater sells all things tea, including dishes and tea varieties you’ve probably never heard of before. They also have free samples, to give you the chance to find that tea that completes your cabinet. Sounds like a win to me! Their tables can also be reserved for tea with your friends, if you wish.
- Garden Thyme Tea Room & Bistro- 805 McArthur St. Coffeyville, KS
Garden Thyme Tea Room Facebook
Garden Thyme Tea Room Facebook Garden Thyme and its proprietor, Olyvia Jerauld, host tea and lunch whenever the doors are open, Monday through Friday. They’re also available for reservations and party catering, which is a great alternative to fast food or a lunch in a windy park.
- Strawberry Hill Museum’s Tea Room - 720 N 4th St Kansas City, KS
Strawberry Hill Museum Facebook
Strawberry Hill Museum This museum is a great place to see cultural exhibits from all across the world, but its tea room is by far my favorite. It’s open 1-4 pm on weekends, and serves the most delicious Slavic desserts with tea or coffee. It’s also available for rentals, so keep them in mind when your princess asks for a tea party next time.
- The Vintage House - 7612 W 80th St Overland Park, KS
The Vintage House Facebook
The Vintage House Facebook This tea room at The Vintage House is also available for reservations of up to 30 people, though you have to provide your own food and drink to fill the dishes provided by them. It’s a great option for those who aren’t too keen on nighttime events with friends.
- Three Sisters Tea and Treasures - 105 N Main St Canton, KS
Three Sisters Tea and Treasures Facebook
Three Sisters Tea and Treasures Facebook Three Sisters hosts a tea once a month, but they’re available for reservation any other time Tuesday through Saturday. In addition to the tea room, there’s also a shop where you can find vintage and themed items for sale to put in your own tea room! (We all should have a tea room, honestly.)
Need another idea for a friendly outing? Check out this totally adorable Kansas farm you won’t find the likes of anywhere else.
