There aren’t too many remote restaurants in the densely populated Garden State, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area consists of 70,000 forested acres across two states – New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Paradise for outdoor lovers, the protected lands offer everything from waterfalls to wildlife, including coyote, fox and deer. New Jersey’s portion of the park is even home to a well-preserved ghost town. While visiting, you’ll truly feel miles away from civilization.
For the most part, you will be. However, there’s an incredible restaurant here offering fine dining in a rustic setting. It’s the only dining option in the immediate area and, lucky for us, it’s a good one. If fact, good isn’t even a strong enough word to describe this wonderful place.
The Walpack Inn has been serving up fine American cuisine since 1949. Lobster is a specialty.

The lobster has always been a big draw. Back in the ’50s, you could dine on delicious lobster with fries and cole slaw for just $1.25.

You’ll find more than just lobster here, however. The bread is so popular that it’s sold by the loaf when supply is available. Guests can make their own at home after buying the Walpack Inn Bread Mix. It makes a great gift… for your taste buds!

The homemade desserts are also a draw, with the mouthwatering pies as a popular choice.
